Piotr Gorka, born 1958 in Kraków, Poland. Studied graphic art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. As a young student he began his career designing graphic projects and illustrating books. After graduating, he illustrated for advertising agencies and publishing houses designing many book covers and commercial posters. Towards the end of the 1980s the character of Piotr’s work had gradually changed and he turned almost exclusively to oil paintings devoted to the history of aviation during WW II. These paintings have featured in many exhibitions across Poland and Europe and can be found in Polish embassies, museums and in private collections around the world. He quickly established himself as a leading Polish aviation artist, and presently he is the only aviation artist in Poland producing limited edition prints.
Due to almost 60 years of Polish isolation, the bravery, fighting skills and heroic contribution of exceptional Polish airmen in historical events has been overlooked. Consequently the public are unaware of the many combat missions featured in Peter Gorka’s artwork, which fills a gap in military aviation history. Piotr’s limited edition prints are signed by the actual Polish combatants and are truly unique on the collector's market.
