    Born on 27 March 1909 at Ruszkowo village in the Warsaw district. In 1930 he graduated from a secondary school and in January 1931 he joined the Air Force Cadet Officers' School at Deblin. Commissioned on 15 August 1933 as an observer, he was posted to the 51st Line Flight of the 5th Air Regiment at Lida. In January 1934 he transferred to the 53rd Army Co-operation Flight. In 1934 he completed a flying course at the Air Force Officers Training Centre at Deblin, and in 1935 an advanced flying course at Grudziadz. Subsequently he was posted to the 133rd Fighter Flight of the 3rd Air Regiment in Poznan. In January 1939 he became an advanced flying instructor at Grudziadz (then at Ulez). During the 1939 campaign he flew with the ad-hoc instructors' fighter flight. After 17 September he was evacuated to Rumania, and then he went by sea to France. He arrived at Marseilles on 12 November 1939. In February 1940 he went to Britain. He received service no. 76781. Following fighter training at No. 5 Operational Training Unit, Aston Down, on 5 August 1940 he was posted to No. 74 Squadron RAF. On 12 December 1940 he was reposted to No. 257 Fighter Squadron RAF, and on 19 December to No. 302 Squadron's operations room as a ground control officer. On 27 February 1941 he was posted to No. 317 Squadron, where he became the 'B' Flight commander. On 20 August 1941 he took command of No. 317 Squadron. On 7 March 1942 he was posted as the Polish Liaison Officer to the HQ No. 10 Group RAF, and on 12 May to a similar post at the HQ No. 12 Group RAF. On 28 December 1942 he resumed combat flying as the deputy leader of the 1st Polish Wing at Northolt. On 4 April 1943 he collided with a German aircraft during air combat and had to bail out. He was captured and sent to the Stalag Luft III at Sagan. He was liberated in early May 1945. Upon return to Anglii he was posted again as the Polish Liaison Officer at the HQ No. 12 Group RAF. Released from the Polish Air Force, he stayed in Britain and joined the RAF (service no. 500158), serving until 1965. He died on 25 July 1996 in London and was buried on 8 August 1996 at Gunnersbury Cemetery in London.
