Born on on 3 January 1920. Following the Polish campaign of 1939 he travelled through Rumania, the Mediterranean and France to Britain, arriving there in June 1940. Following conversion training on British aircraft in No. 55 OTU, he was posted to No. 317 Sqn, serving with the unit from August 1941 to July 1942. He was commissionned in July 1942 and then re-posted to No. 315 Sqn. He flew operationally with the latter unit until 13 May 1943 when he was shot down over France. He spent the rest of the war as a PoW.
Remains of the Spitfire IX BS410, in which P. Kuryllowicz was downed in 1943, were found in France in December 2005. Currently the Spitfire is undergoing reconstruction to airworthy condition.
