Born on 5 June 1919 at Jaroslaw. In 1936 he joined the Air Force NCO School for Minors at Bydgoszcz and graduated in 1939 at Krosno as a fighter pilot. On 1 July 1939 he was posted to the 111th Fighter Flight of the 1st Air Regiment in Warsaw. He fought in September 1939 in 111 Flight within Pursuit Brigade. On 18 September he crossed the Rumanian border by road with his unit. Following a brief internment he left Rumania by sea, and on 11 November he arrived in France. In mid-May 1940 he was posted to the Polish section of Lt. Ludwik Paszkiewicz attached to the GC II/8. After the fall of France he was evacuated to Britain. Hereceived service no. 793443. He was posted to No. 303 Squadron on 2 August 1940. On 9 September 1940 he was shot down in air combat against Messerschmitt 109s. Wounded and burnt he baled out of his Hurricane I P3700 RF-E, spending almost a month in hospital. He then returned to fly with No. 303 Sqn on 23 October. On 4 September 1942 he was posted to No. 58 OTU as a flying instructor. On 1 January 1943 he was commissioned (and received and officer's service no. P-2096). On 21 March 1943 he returned to No. 303 Sqn, and was posted for an officers course at RAF Cosford. After the course he returned to the Squadron. On 11 October 1943 he transferred to the PAF Depot at Blackpool. From 18 April 1944 he resumed combat flying with No. 315 Sqn, serving with it until late October. After a month's break, on 6 December 1944 he was appointed 'B' Flight commander in that squadron. His last assignment, on 6 December 1945, was as Navigation Officer in No. 309 Squadron. He returned to Poland in 1947. He was allowed to join the 'People's Polish Air Force' and he became an instructor at the Officers' Air School at Deblin. In 1952 he was expelled from service for political reasons. After 1957 he joined the then forming air medical service, he also flew in air sea rescue service. He lived
in Warsaw. He died on 10 July 1980 and was buried at Powazki cemetery in Warsaw.
