     Born on 17 August 1914 at Stoczek near Kock, son of Feliks and Ludwika nee Cymerman. During his compulsory military service, in April 1939 he completed a flying course at the 1st Air Regiment in Warsaw. He did not participate in fighting over Poland in 1939. He went via Rumania to France, and on 27 June 1940 he reached Britain. He received service no. 783023. Following training at No. 1 (Polish) FTS he was a ferry pilot between April and June 1941. On 16 June he was posted for fighter training at No.55 OTU, and then on 28 July 1941 he received posting to No. 315 Sqn. Having completed a combat tour, on 3 November 1942 he was posted to No. 58 OTU as an instructor. On 13 May 1943 he rejoined No. 315 Sqn, and on 16 July transferred to No. 303 Sqn. On 9 November 1943 he went back to No. 315 Sqn. He completed another tour in March 1944, and was placed in the Polish Air Force Inspectorate pool. On 15 June 1944 he was posted back to No. 303 Sqn. On 23 June he failed to return from a routine patrol in Supermarine Spitfire VB AB271 RF-F. The crash location of his Spitfire at Roucamps in Normandy was not identified until almost 65 years later. On 23 June 2009 a memorial was unveiled at the site of his death. A year later a memorial was also unveiled in his native village at Stoczek.
