Born on 1919 in Wejherowo near Gdańsk. Upon graduation from a secondary school in 1938 he decided to become a career air force officer. He has completed a course in gliding and a so-called unitary course for cadet officers. On 3 January 1939 he joined the Polish Air Force College at Dęblin. In September 1939, together with a group of cadet officers of the 14th Class he was evacuated to Rumania. From there by sea, via Beirut he reached France. Already during February 1940 he went to Britain. After the group of cadet officers refused to take an oath of allegiance to the British King, he and his colleagues were sent back to France. After the fall of France in June 1940 he went to Britain again (receiving service no. 783387). He was posted for a supplementary course for cadet officers. He then undertook flying conversion training in November 1940 at No. 15 EFTS Carlisle. In January 1941 he commenced advanced training in No. 16 (Polish) SFTS at Newton, which he completed in March. Subsequently he trained as a fighter pilot at No. 55 OTU. In May 1941 he was posted to no. 56 Squadron RAF. From mid-June he flew with No. 315 Sqn. He was commissioned on 1 January 1942 (receiving officer’s service no. P-1681). In March 1942 he was posted to No. 603 Squadron RAF based at the North of the British Isles. From April he served with No. 54 Squadron RAF, and from May until July with No. 164 Sqn RAF. He then returned to No. 315 Sqn, but in October was posted to No. 504 Sqn RAF, and a month later again to No. 164 Sqn. In December 1942 he returned to No. 315 Sqn again. From December 1943 he was an Ops Room controller for No. 315 Squadron, and from April 1944 for No. 309 Sqn. In August 1944 he resumed pilot’s duties for another combat tour with No. 315 Sqn. During late September he assumed command of ‘B’ Flight with the squadron, and a month later of ‘A’ Flight. During late May 1945 he moved to a post of air traffic control officer at the Polish Fighter Station RAF Coltishall. He remained at this post until disbandment of Polish squadrons in Britain. After demobilisation he settled in Britain, living at Lidell. He died on 17 September 1994 at South Ascot.
